A didactic direction tells the story of Elizabeth Bishop , a great American poet not very well known in Italy.

In the fabulous setting of Brazil in the early 1960s, the story is told of a love triangle made up of only women, all aware of each other's existence and accepted, not always willingly.

The one who fits into an already very long-standing story is the poet Elizabeth Bishop , who changes a balance that has existed for many years to create a new one, with no small amount of difficulty, especially linked to an excessive consumption of alcohol, in a historical context of great changes.

What clearly emerges is the solitary figure of the woman as an artist who, despite being much loved and enjoying great public recognition as a poet, finds in pessimism and art her only faithful companions in life.

The phrase that most highlights this is the one he said before leaving Brazil: “ When I can't have something I want, I'm sad and unhappy. When I do get it, I'm afraid of losing it. And the wait for that to happen kills me .”

Not always on target, it is still a film worth seeing, if only for the information on the poet's life.
