HOJE EU QUERO VOLTAR SOZINHO (2014) Daniel Ribeiro

I was a fan of Boum when I was very young. This is to warn you that I can never be completely impartial in judging films about teenage love.
We are in a very posh , very clean Brazil , far from the representations of poverty and favelas that we often find in films in recent years.
Leo , a blind boy, leads a fairly normal life, considering his disability: very close to his best friend Giovanna, he divides his time between school, family, and swimming pools. He's certainly teased a little by his classmates, but he's pretty average. That is until Gabriel appears in their class and in their lives. Unexpectedly, he gets closer to Leo than to Giovanna, even though she is very interested in a certain form of intimacy. Instead, Gabriel focuses on Leo , opening him up to music other than classical ( the only genre the blind boy listens to ), introducing him to Belle and Sebastian , a true thread running through the entire film (a very fitting choice).
When Leo realizes that he desires Gabriel , he will experience it without the drama of coming out or the perplexity of wanting a man instead of a woman, but with tender simplicity.
Certainly the whole story is told with a rather simple linearity, which at times borders on superficiality, but up until the happy ending the film always holds up and leaves a sense of serenity which, let's face it, we sometimes need.
