GETTING GO, THE GO PROJECT (2013) Cory Krueckeberg

The basis of this film is a cliché : the loser scholar whose main sexual activity is giving blowjobs ( Doc ), who gets high by looking at the Internet, falls in love with the hot dancer Go Go Boy in the discos (Go), has the chance and the luck to meet him, obviously we learn that this, in addition to a stunning body, has a brain and above all a soul, and they fall in love.

Well, if you put it that way, it might seem like a disconcertingly banal film, but it isn't at all.

Visually, the film is a blur of images that could appear frenetic, but it reflects the restlessness of virtual dynamics, built on apps, social media profiles, and smartphones. In the background is the big city, which is never the protagonist, but rather almost a limbo in the background.

It's a simple relationship, in which both lay themselves bare, moving yet shocking, especially in the carnal aspect, enhanced to the fullest by the camera's insistence on the bodies, especially Go's, who lets himself be observed with a brazen exhibitionist verve. There's no shortage of narrative naiveté, but the characters make you root for them.
